Your Questions Answered...
  1. Do you need to have prior experience of playing the guitar before coming to lessons?
No – you can be either a beginner or an advanced player, so long as you have enthusiasm and motivation.

  2. Is there an age-limit?
No – anyone from the age of 7 to 70 can learn to play the guitar.

  3. What type of guitar is right for me?
The answer to this is that it depends very much on the type of music you would like to learn to play e.g. if you like Rock it would be best to buy an electric guitar. If you like classical then a nylon string acoustic would be preferable. If in doubt call Jon prior to the first lesson and he will give you the appropriate advice.

  4. How long will it take for me to learn to play the guitar well?
The simple answer is it depends on how much practise you put in. Generally speaking, everyone learns at their own pace – but half an hours practise every day can do wonders!

  5. What is the best age for children to start learning the guitar?
Age 7 is a good age to start as their co-ordination is usually well enough developed by then.

  6. Can you give me any advice on starting my own band?
Yes – many of Jon's students have gone on to form their own bands and he is only too happy to give advice on this. He may even be able to put you in touch with other players.
